How to build a mini indoor greenhouse

A mini greenhouse lets you grow very delicate species that would not thrive in a normal home: rare orchids, tropical ferns, young cuttings. You can build one economically in a weekend.

What you need

Glass cabinet (IKEA Fabrikör or similar), ultrasonic humidifier, small fan, LED grow light, digital hygro-thermometer, optional heating mat.

The setup

Place fan up top for airflow (prevents mould). Humidifier at the bottom. LED light on the ceiling, 12h/day timer. Hygrometer in the middle to monitor.

Target conditions

Humidity 70–80%, temperature 22–26°C day / 18–22°C night, light 12h/day.
